Bohemian-style poppy seed noodles

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 pack of Schupfnudeln, from the refrigerated section, approx. 500 g
  • 50 g poppy seeds, ground
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 100 ml coffee, cold, very strong, (espresso)

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

…like my mother always made them

Cook the Schupfnudeln in plenty of water. Strain, transfer to a larger bowl, add the ground poppy seeds and melted butter, and mix well. Pour the cold, but very strong coffee over the dumplings, toss to combine, and then sprinkle with the sugar. Toss everything well again so the Schupfnudeln are completely coated with poppy seeds. If you like your poppy seed dumplings a little sweeter, feel free to add more sugar. My mother always made them herself from potato dough; they were absolutely delicious.
