Boil Plums – That’s How It Works

Preserving mirabelle plums: the preparation

Before you get to the essentials, you need a few ingredients and utensils:

  1. 500 milliliters of water
  2. 150 grams of sugar
  3. 600 grams Mirabelle plums – These should be ripe, but not overripe.
  4. Screw-top jars should be sterilized before use

Preserving: made easy

When you have all the ingredients and utensils together, you can start cooking.

  1. First, fill a large pot with water and let it boil. Once it boils, you can add the sugar. Stir this so that it dissolves in the water.
  2. Let the water and sugar cool down to about room temperature.
  3. To prepare the mirabelle plums, the stalks of the fruit and mold are first removed.
  4. Then wash the mirabelle plums and fill them into the glasses. It is important that you try to get as many fruits into the glass as possible.
  5. Now fill the glasses with the sugar solution, leaving about 2 centimeters of space at the rim. Close the jars with their lids.
  6. Next, place a cloth in a large pot, which you then fill with water so that the glasses later stand halfway in the water.
  7. Now put your glasses in the pot. The cloth prevents them from hitting each other.
  8. As soon as the water starts to boil, the Mirabelle plum jars have to boil for half an hour.
  9. After the time has elapsed, you can remove the glasses from the pot and let them cool down.
