Bread: Bread with Onions

The perfect bread: bread with onions recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 400 g Whole wheat flour
  • 200 g Spelled flour
  • 100 g Tickled onions – I buy on the internet –
  • 1 Tl Sunflower seeds
  • 1 dice Yeast
  • 300 ml Lukewarm water
  • 1 Tl Sugar
  • 2 Tl Salt
  • 5 El Extra virgin olive oil
  • 0,25 Tl Caraway seeds
  • 2 El Oat bran
  1. Put the flour in a bowl, along with the crumbled yeast. Pour the lukewarm water over the yeast, add the sugar and the salt in another place. Let stand for a moment, about 5 minutes. Light bubbles will now develop on the yeast water. Now knead everything for about 5 minutes.
  2. Let the dough rise until the volume has increased significantly. Then briefly knead the onions and the oil with the caraway seeds again.
  3. Shape the dough into a loaf and place in the oven preheated to 50 degrees. Shape the bread nicely high as the dough will come apart. Now carefully place the oat bran on the bread and pound in a little. When the volume has increased significantly again, it takes about half an hour to set the oven to 185 degrees and bake for about 50 minutes.
  4. Just before the end, brush the bread with water and repeat. But you can also put a fire-proof bowl with water in the oven. I always state the preparation time with “walking times”.
  5. “Chopped onions are air-dried onions that can be added directly to the meal”
