Broccoli – Honey – Chicken

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g chicken breast fillet(s)
  • 2 tsp sambal oelek
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp ginger root, freshly grated
  • 375 g basmati
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 500 g broccoli
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 150 ml chicken stock
  • 50 ml Cremefine, for cooking
  • some cornstarch
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp honey (acacia), or other
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Total time approx. 12 hours 45 minutes

Cut the chicken breast fillet into strips, mix with 1 teaspoon of sambal oelek, soy sauce, and ginger, and marinate overnight in the refrigerator. Prepare the rice according to the package instructions. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large frying pan. Dust the chicken strips with cornstarch and fry. Remove and set aside. Cut the broccoli into small florets. Finely chop the garlic and sauté in the pan drippings with 1 tablespoon of oil. Add the broccoli florets and deglaze with the chicken stock. Mix in the Cremefine, season with salt and pepper, and cook with the lid closed for about 5 minutes. Remove from the pan. Add the remaining oil to the wok/pan, briefly toast the remaining sambal oelek, and mix in the honey and sesame seeds. As soon as the honey begins to foam, carefully stir in the chicken strips and broccoli and season with salt and pepper. Serve the broccoli and honey chicken with basmati rice.
