Brussels sprouts gratin with bacon and almonds

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 250 g bacon (breakfast bacon)
  • 900 g Brussels sprouts (frozen)
  • 250 g cheese (Pikantje)
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 g crème fraîche
  • 100 g crème fraîche with herbs
  • 100 g almond(s), flakes
  • 30 g butter
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • nutmeg
  • Sambal Oelek

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Cut the bacon into coarse strips. Blanch the thawed Brussels sprouts in salted water for about 7 minutes. Finely chop the onion and garlic. Sauté the onion and garlic in a little butter, then briefly fry the bacon. Place the Brussels sprouts in a greased baking dish and lightly toss with the onion and bacon mixture. Whisk the grated cheese with the eggs and crème fraîche, season well to taste, and spread over the Brussels sprouts. Sprinkle the flaked almonds and the remaining butter in small pieces on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes. Tip: If you don’t like Brussels sprouts, you can also use broccoli.
