Buckwheat: The Alkaline Effect of The Pseudocereal

Buckwheat is a basic pseudocereal

Buckwheat belongs to the knotweed family and is, therefore, a so-called pseudo-cereal.

  • Pseudo-grains behave very similarly to normal grains, but they are also gluten-free.
  • In the case of gluten intolerance – celiac disease – buckwheat can be used in addition to quinoa and amaranth when cooking and baking.

Buckwheat is basic

Buckwheat is also alkaline. Or to put it another way: It has a basic reaction.

  • The body metabolizes buckwheat alkaline. This is important for the acid-base balance in an alkaline diet.
  • Especially sprouted buckwheat, which has already lost strength, has a particularly alkaline effect and is, therefore, best suited for your alkaline diet.
