Butter Thaler

The perfect butter thaler recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 250 g Wheat flour
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1 Protein
  • 125 g Butter
  • 60 g Sugar
  • 50 g Granulated sugar
  1. Put the flour in a bowl.
  2. Add the egg and yolk to the bowl.
  3. Add the butter in flakes.
  4. Sprinkle the sugar on top.
  5. Now knead all the ingredients in the bowl to form a smooth dough.
  6. Wrap the dough in foil and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  7. Lightly sprinkle the work surface with flour and roll out the dough about 0.5 cm.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees circulating air.
  9. Now cut out the desired shape and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  10. Slightly whip the egg whites and brush the biscuits with it.
  11. Sprinkle with hail sugar.
  12. Put the biscuits in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes and then let them cool down well.
