Cookies for the whole year
Make a shortcrust pastry by combining the softened butter with the sugar and egg yolks, mixing in the sifted flour, and briefly kneading until smooth. Cover and chill for about 30 minutes. Roll out the dough in portions 5 mm thick, cut out flowers or other designs. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and refrigerate for 10 minutes. Preheat the oven to 190-200 degrees Celsius (top and bottom heat). Whisk the egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of milk, cream, or coffee milk and brush over the cookies. Bake the cookies until golden brown; this takes about 10-12 minutes. Every oven heats differently! Tips: A pinch of salt in the dough is never a bad idea. You can also add 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla sugar or the seeds of half a vanilla pod. It also tastes delicious at Christmas time if you flavor the dough with a little cinnamon. You can sprinkle sugar pearls, granulated sugar, chopped almonds, etc. on the egg yolk.
