Buttermilk rolls

Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • 750 g flour (wheat flour)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 40 g yeast
  • 500 g buttermilk, lukewarm
  • 1 egg(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Mix the flour with the salt. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm buttermilk and pour into the flour. Add the egg and knead thoroughly. Form into a ball, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size. Then knead the dough again vigorously and form into 20-24 rolls. Place the rolls on a baking sheet and score them crosswise with a knife. Let rise for another 10 minutes. Place the sheet in a cold oven and bake at 220°C for about 30 minutes.
