Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g pasta (Fleckerl)
  • 500 g white cabbage, cut into small squares
  • ½ onion(s), finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp, sautéed caraway seeds
  • 125 ml vegetable stock
  • 2 dashes vinegar
  • Salt and pepper from the mill
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

White cabbage and small squares of pasta dough

Cook the Speckerl in salted water until al dente. Meanwhile, heat the oil, add the sugar, and let it caramelize. Stir in the onions, fry briefly, and add the white cabbage with the caraway seeds. Roast the white cabbage until browned to enhance the flavor. Deglaze with vinegar and stock, season with salt and pepper, and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes. Add the drained Speckerl and let it heat through. Season with salt and pepper before serving.
