Cake Kit – Vanilla Buttercream

The perfect cake kit – vanilla buttercream recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 500 ml Milk
  • 2 Egg yolk
  • 40 g Food starch
  • 40 g Sugar
  • 1 Vanilla pod
  • 1 tbsp Hardened coconut oil
  • 250 g Butter
  1. Remove some of the milk and stir in the cornstarch, sugar and egg yolks.
  2. Cut the vanilla pod lengthways and scrape it out with a knife. Bring the vanilla pulp to the boil with the rest of the milk. The scraped out vanilla pod can also be cooked.
  3. When the milk boils, fish out the vanilla pod and stir in the starch mixture, bring to the boil and then simmer for about 3 minutes. Stir in the coconut oil until it has melted.
  4. Let the pudding cool while stirring several times. I usually put the pot in cold water so that it goes faster.
  5. In the meantime, whip the butter until creamy. When the pudding has cooled down, stir the pudding into the butter spoon by spoon.
  6. The buttercream is enough for one layer (or 2 thin layers) and the coating of the cake.
