While apple cider vinegar is one of the less perishable foods, it can still go bad. The shelf life is based on the storage. The better stored, the longer the vinegar will keep.
Apple cider vinegar can go bad
Apple cider vinegar is one of the substances that ensure a long shelf life of food. Depending on how it is stored, the vinegar itself can last for a very long time or only for a short time. Always note the expiry date on the bottle.
- Store- bought apple cider vinegar has a longer shelf life than homemade one. This is in fact hermetically sealed and professionally prepared. At home, sterile cleanliness during manufacture cannot always be guaranteed.
- Unopened bottles can be stored for up to three years. If the bottle is in a cool, dark place, it can be kept fresh for up to ten years.
- The purer the apple cider vinegar is, the longer it will keep. If there are additives such as different flavors, the apple cider vinegar should be used up as soon as possible after opening.
- If you see deposits on the bottom of the bottle or the liquid is very cloudy, the apple cider vinegar is bad. The degree of freshness of the vinegar cannot be recognized by the smell, as it has a strong odor of its own.
- If you open the bottle, use up the vinegar in a timely manner. Do not store the vinegar for more than ten months.
