Capuchin ~ Gray Peas

The perfect capuchin ~ gray peas recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 350 gr Mixed minced meat
  • 330 ml Gray peas / capuchin
  • 1 Pc. Sweet peppers / long peppers
  • 1 Pc. Fresh hot peppers
  • 1 Pc. Leek
  • 1 tbsp Curry
  • 1 tsp Vegetable broth, instant
  • 1 Pc. Asian garlic
  • 4 Branches Fresh celery leaves
  • 1 packet Spicy minced meat spice
  • 20 g Bacon butter
  • 100 g Grated cheese
  • 2 Pc. Fresh onions
  • 6 Discs Pork bacon streaked (breakfast bacon)
  • 50 ml Water
  • Salt, pepper, paprika powder, nutmeg
  1. The leek is cut from any dry spots and the roots removed, cut into rings. Separate the peppers from the inside (seeds and stems) and cut into blocks. Repeat with the pepper and the onion. Put the capuchins in a colander and drain. Peel the garlic and press it through a press. Wash and roughly chop the celery.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan, add the minced meat, fry the minced meat seasoning (hot) and the peppers in it until the minced meat has turned brown. Take out the minced meat and put the leek, the paprika and the pressed garlic in the same pan and let sizzle gently.
  3. Roast the onions in a smaller pan, combine them with the remaining vegetables, season with salt, pepper & not to forget the curry but also the bacon butter. Mix everything together well and let cook for another 2 minutes. Now stir in the fried minced meat.
  4. Add the water and repair the vegetable stock. Bring to the boil, add some of the chopped celery and now the best, the capuchins / gray peas. Take back the flame, grease a casserole dish and scoop the entire contents of the pan into it.
  5. Spread the grated cheese over it as well as the rest of the chopped celery. Put all of this into the oven preheated to 200 degrees until the cheese has reached the desired melting point. One likes it more and the other less crispy. Depending on your taste and preference.
  6. My dear friends, I hope I have described everything in such a way that it is easy to cook. Should there be any discrepancies, write to me and I will improve it. This data center was cooked before my surgery, but I thought it was time to offer it to you. So have fun cooking and maybe you like it too. Good Appetite!
  7. p.s. I added 2 slices of fried breakfast bacon per serving as “decoration” …. 😉
