Caramelize hazelnuts – it’s that easy

Caramelized hazelnuts taste delicious as a snack between meals, but they also go well as an accompaniment to hearty dishes such as saddle of venison. For the recipe, you need the following ingredients: 200 grams of hazelnuts and 200 grams of sugar, a packet of vanilla sugar, and 125 milliliters of water.

  1. Put the sugar, water, and vanilla sugar in a pan. Let the whole thing come to a boil.
  2. Then add the hazelnuts.
  3. Now you have to wait until the sugar caramelizes and the hazelnuts shine.
  4. Be sure to stir continuously. Otherwise, the mass will burn quickly.
  5. When the water has evaporated, the hazelnuts crumble a bit. Then just keep stirring until the nuts are shiny again.
  6. Finally, place the caramelized hazelnuts on a baking tray lined with baking paper and allow them to cool.
  7. If you like, you can also sprinkle cinnamon on top – you just decide according to your taste.
