Caramelized apple compote with red wine

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 5 apples
  • 20 g butter
  • 75 g sugar
  • 1 orange(s), juice
  • ½ lemon(s), juice
  • 100 ml apple juice
  • 50 ml red wine
  • e.g. cinnamon

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Peel, core, and roughly dice the apples. Heat the butter and sugar in a saucepan until the sugar begins to melt. When the sugar has caramelized, add the apple pieces and stir. Then add the orange juice, lemon juice, apple juice, and red wine and simmer until the apples are as soft as you like and the liquid has thickened slightly. I usually simmer for 15-20 minutes. If desired, you can also add a pinch of cinnamon to the apple compote.
