Grandma’s way

Peel the potatoes, carrots, and onion and cut into small pieces. Season about 1 liter of water with the vegetable stock and add the potatoes and carrots. Then simmer uncovered for about 25 minutes. Slice the mettwurst and cut the bacon into pieces. When the carrots and potatoes are tender, drain off the stock and reserve it (you’ll need it later!). Mash the carrots and potatoes. Then add the mettwurst, bacon, and onion, adding stock as needed, and simmer for about another 10 minutes. If you like, you can add a little more cream. It tastes best if it can sit overnight.
