Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 8 rolls from the day before
- 750 ml milk
- 4 eggs
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 lemon(s) (zest)
- some cinnamon
- 40 g butter for flakes
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes
French toast as a casserole
Grate the rolls lightly and place them in a greased baking dish. Whisk the milk with the eggs, add the sugar, vanilla sugar, lemon zest, and cinnamon, and pour over the rolls. Let them soften for about 1 hour. Sprinkle the grated breadcrumbs over the rolls, place knobs of butter on top, and bake at 200°C for 1 hour. Serve with vanilla sauce.
