Casserole with mashed potatoes, fried onions and egg

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 6 m.-sized potatoes
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • some butter
  • 150 g fried onions
  • salt and pepper
  • possibly nutmeg
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 g cheese, grated, e.g. Gouda
  • Oil, for the casserole dish

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

something hearty for vegetarians

Boil the potatoes, drain, and then mash them. Mash them with milk and butter. Season with fried onions, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, if desired. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish. Use a tablespoon to make four indentations in the mashed potatoes. Crack the eggs into each indentation. Sprinkle the casserole with cheese and bake in the oven at 180°C for 20 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown. Serve with vegetables for a complete main course.
