Casseroles: Spicy Potato Casserole

The perfect casseroles: spicy potato casserole recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 500 g Leeks / leeks
  • 1 kg Floury potatoes
  • 250 g Pork bacon raw smoked
  • 200 g Grated Edam
  • 0,25 liter Milk
  • 2 tbsp Butter / margarine
  • 1,5 tsp Salt
  • 0,5 tsp Pepper

Tip:

  1. Do not peel new potatoes, just wash them well.

How to do it:

  1. Cut the leek into fine rings, wash and drain well.
  2. Peel the potatoes (or not for new ones) and slice them into a bowl with water. Then drain in a sieve and wrap in a cloth to dry.
  3. Cut the bacon into fine strips.
  4. Grease the baking dish and then layer with a layer of potatoes, leek, bacon and cheese. Then again leeks, bacon, cheese and finally potatoes again.
  5. Bring the milk with the spices and butter or margarine to the boil (I still had some of the grated cheese left over and cooked it too). When the cheese is melted (or without cheese), pour over the casserole after boiling.
  6. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C (gas: 3-4) and push the casserole into the middle. Bake for another 50 minutes. More or less long, depending on the degree of browning and the oven.
