Cauliflower in White Sauce
The perfect cauliflower in white sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
For the brew:
- Water
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 kl. Shot Milk
For the sauce:
- 30 g Branded butter
- 30 g Flour
- 250 ml From the cooking stock
- 200 ml Milk
- 1 kl. Stock cube
- Freshly grated nutmeg
- Yes, that’s how my grandma made it – and we still like it – it’s so easy to prepare. To do this, remove the leaves from the cauliflower and then cut into large florets.
- Bring all the ingredients for the brew to the boil in a saucepan (sugar and milk ensure a particularly mild taste and a nice white color). Let the vegetables cook in the stock for 5 minutes – no longer! – Then pour into a sieve and collect 250 ml of liquid.
- Prepare a light roux ** from the butter, flour, cooking stock, milk and the stock cube. Add the cauliflower florets and cook in the fine sauce for another 5 minutes. Season the sauce with freshly grated nutmeg and serve the vegetables.
