Chai Latte

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 400 ml water
  • 350 g sugar
  • 2 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 piece(s) ginger root, about 4×4 cm
  • 2 tsp cardamom
  • 200 ml tea, black, or coffee
  • 100 ml soy milk (soy drink)
  • 100 ml milk, fat content of your choice

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Latte with homemade syrup and soy milk

The chai syrup is enough for more than one serving. Bottled, it will keep for several weeks in the refrigerator. Bring the water to a boil, add the sugar, and reduce it to a syrupy consistency. At the same time, dry roast the spices (except for the ginger) in a pan until the aroma develops. Slice the ginger. Then add the spices and ginger to the water and simmer for about 15 minutes. Allow to cool. For the latte, heat the soy milk with the regular milk, add the black tea or coffee, and then add about a tablespoon of syrup, depending on your taste. Tip: If you like it really sweet, you can add honey, although the syrup is sweet enough for me.
