Cheezy Moinkballs

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced beef
  • 20 slices of bacon
  • 4 tbsp honey BBQ sauce
  • 5 slice(s) Cheddar cheese, e.g. sandwich cheese
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Season the ground beef with salt and pepper as desired. Optionally, add a seasoning mix of your choice (e.g., Cherry Chipotle, Ground Beef Seasoning, Magic Dust, etc.). For each Moinkball, calculate 100g of ground beef, approximately 25g of cheddar cheese, and 4 slices of bacon. Flatten the ground beef into a hamburger patty. Place the cheese in the center and then form the ground beef into a ball with the cheese in the center. Arrange the bacon slices in a star shape on a work surface and place the meatball in the center. Then fold the bacon slices upwards to seal the Moinkball with the bacon. Set the grill to 160-180°C and set aside an indirect grill area. Place the Moinkballs in the indirect grill area to cook for approximately 30 minutes (if you like, you can add some smoked wood for smoking). After about 30 minutes, brush the Moinkballs with your choice of BBQ sauce and grill them indirectly for another 15 minutes. Because the cheese in the center will be very hot, it’s best to wait another 5 minutes or cut into the Moinkball before eating it. Otherwise, you risk burning your tongue.
