Cherry bake with croissants

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 800 g cherries (sweet cherries)
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 6 croissants, each approx. 70 g
  • 100 g sugar
  • 300 g yogurt (full-fat yogurt)
  • 200 ml milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 100 g biscuit(s) (Amarettini, Italian almond biscuits)
  • Butter for greasing
  • some nutmeg, grated
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Grease the baking dish. Wash and stem the cherries. Mix with nutmeg and vanilla sugar and let it absorb slightly. Tear the croissants into small pieces. Mix together the sugar, yogurt, milk, eggs, cornstarch, and salt. Mix the croissants and cherries and place them in the dish. Pour the egg mixture over them. Crush the amaretti biscuits and crumble them over the top. Cover and let stand for about 15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 175°C and bake the casserole for about 30 minutes. Then cover with aluminum foil and bake for another 20 minutes. Serve hot.
