Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 500 g flour
- 250 g sugar
- 250 g margarine
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 jars of sour cherries, pitted
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
Knead the flour, sugar, margarine, baking powder, vanilla sugar, and eggs into a dough. Reserve some dough for the crumble topping. Roll out the remaining dough on a baking sheet. Spread the drained sour cherries over the dough. Form small crumbles from the reserved dough and spread them on the baking sheet. Bake in the oven at 225°C (top/bottom heat, middle rack) for about 25 minutes. After cooling, dust the crumble topping with powdered sugar dissolved in water, if desired. My late grandmother used to bake this cake on the fly every now and then—it’s my absolute favorite and, incidentally, the only one I bake myself.
