Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 2 cans chickpeas, drained
  • 1 can of tomatoes, peeled
  • 2 onions
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin, ground
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp spice mix (garam masala)

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Slice the peeled onions into thin rings, press the peeled garlic with a garlic press, then sauté both in olive oil until soft. Add all the spices (except the garam masala) and sauté for 1 minute, stirring. Add the drained chickpeas and diced tomatoes and cook over low heat for 20 minutes. Add the garam masala and cook for another 10 minutes. Serve warm with bread. Chapattis or naan bread are best served with it.
