Chili con carne with minced game

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g chopped game meat (deer or venison)
  • 1 large onion(s), chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp oil for frying
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 150 ml red wine
  • 1 can of corn
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1 can of tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper(s), green, cut into large cubes
  • 1 red chili pepper(s), finely diced
  • 30 g chocolate, dark
  • Sour cream, optional

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Heat oil in a deep pot. Sauté the onion and garlic until translucent. Add the minced venison and fry until crumbly. Add the tomato paste, chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper and fry briefly. Deglaze with red wine and stir in the drained corn and kidney beans. Add the tomatoes. Finally, add the bell pepper pieces, chopped chili pepper, and dark chocolate. Cover and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes. Serve with a dollop of sour cream, if desired.
