Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 1 onion(s), mild, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove(s) garlic clove(s), crushed
  • 1 can of tomatoes, 400 g, chopped or pureed
  • ½ lemon(s), juice
  • some sea salt
  • 2 green chili peppers, cut into fine rings

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Sauté the chopped onion in olive oil in a covered pan over low heat for 5-6 minutes. Add the garlic and chili and simmer for a few minutes, until the chili is softened. Add the tomatoes and simmer for another 5 minutes. Season with salt and lemon juice. Fresh chilies should be used with the seeds and white pith removed—otherwise, they’ll be very hot! Tastes great with vegetarian meatloaf or vegetarian meatballs, or simply on toasted bread.
