Chinese millet pot

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g millet
  • 1 tbsp oil, e.g. sesame oil
  • ¾ liter chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 400 g turkey breast, shredded
  • 400 g leek
  • 4 carrots
  • Chili paste (e.g. Sambal Oelek)
  • Soy sauce

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Sauté the millet in hot oil over relatively low heat until light brown, deglaze with chicken stock, and simmer for about 20 minutes until soft. Stir occasionally. Heat the oil in a large pan or wok, fry the meat for 2-3 minutes, remove, and set aside. Cut the vegetables into thin strips, then sauté in the pan or wok while stirring. Season with soy sauce and chili paste. Add the millet and turkey, return to the heat, and serve immediately.
