Chocolate cake in orange peel

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 oranges
  • 150 g dark chocolate
  • 100 g butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 60 g sugar
  • 40 g flour

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

First, cut off the top of the orange and remove the flesh. To do this, use a spoon to pry the flesh from the bottom of the peel. Be careful not to damage the orange peel. Some flesh can remain in the peel. Melt the chocolate and butter over low heat. Beat the eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until frothy and slowly fold in the sifted flour. Finally, stir in the melted chocolate-butter mixture. Pour this batter into the hollowed-out oranges. Fill the cake to about 3/4 of the size of the orange. Bake the filled oranges at 180 degrees Celsius (top and bottom heat) for about 35-40 minutes. If you want a more runny, creamy cake, bake the oranges for about 35 minutes; if you prefer it firmer, leave them in the oven for 40 minutes.
