Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 120 g dark chocolate (e.g. 70%)
  • 120 g butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 335 g flour (type 405)
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 60 g cocoa powder (not instant)
  • 1 tsp salt

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Melt the butter and chocolate together. Beat the eggs with sugar and vanilla sugar until frothy. Slowly add the butter-chocolate mixture while stirring. Sift the flour with the baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt, then mix in and knead into a dough. The dough should not be sticky and should be easy to work with. Divide the dough and shape into 2 logs. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at approx. 175°C (150°C fan oven) for approx. 25 minutes. Allow the logs to cool slightly and then cut into approx. 1 cm thick slices. Place the slices on the baking tray and bake for another 20 minutes at 125°C (100°C fan oven). Allow to cool.
