Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 200 g old bread roll(s), cut into small pieces (dumpling bread)
  • 125 ml milk, maybe a little more
  • 5 eggs
  • 70 g butter
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder
  • 100 g chocolate (baking chocolate or block chocolate)
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Soak the dumpling bread in milk (add more if it’s too dry), separate the eggs. Cream the butter, egg yolks, sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt until fluffy. Finely grate the chocolate and mix it into the cream along with the cocoa and bread. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold them into the chocolate mixture. Grease a shallow baking dish, pour in the mixture, and smooth the surface. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 40-55 minutes. Check the inside for firmness with a toothpick, if necessary. Serve with vanilla sauce.
