Christmas Cookies: Linz Marzipan Strips

The perfect christmas cookies: linz marzipan strips recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 2 piece Eggs
  • 180 g Butter
  • 80 g Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 250 g Flour
  • 225 g Currant jelly
  • 300 g Marzipan
  1. Separate the eggs and set aside the egg whites. Knead the egg yolks, 150 g butter in flakes, salt, 50 g sugar, vanilla sugar and flour to form a smooth dough. Wrap in foil and put in the fridge for approx. 1 hour.
  2. Mix the remaining sugar and butter together. Grate the marzipan and stir in the egg white. Fill into a piping bag with a small star nozzle.
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured work surface into a large rectangle, approx. 28 x 35 cm and approx. 2 – 3 mm thin. Cut the dough into 4 cm long strips. Place them next to each other on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Squirt the marzipan mixture along both long sides of the dough strips.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven at 200 degrees (or fan oven 175 degrees) on the middle rack for about 10 – 13 minutes. Let cool down briefly and then fill the middle of the strips with the smoothly stirred jelly. Let cool and set. Cut each strip into about 10 pieces.
