Ingredients for 5 servings:

  • 400 g orange juice, freshly squeezed or direct juice
  • 2 tbsp orange zest, from untreated oranges
  • 8 cardamom pods
  • 8 carnations
  • 1 piece(s) cinnamon stick(s), about 2 cm
  • 450 g sugar, cane sugar is also acceptable
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 8 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 4 minutes; Total time approx. 8 hours 14 minutes

for mixing and desserts

Mix orange juice and lemon juice with sugar in a saucepan. Lightly press the spices together, then place them in a tea bag with the orange peel and tie a knot. Add them to the pan with the juice and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight. Slowly bring to a boil and simmer for about 4 minutes. Pour into small bottles and seal. Refrigerate until ready to use. Adds a special flavor to fruit tea, or infused with Prosecco, it makes a delicious aperitif.
