Christmas sugar hearts

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g sugar, refined sugar (not fine)
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder, pure baking cocoa
  • ¼ tsp clove powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • ¼ tsp vanilla powder, bourbon or the pulp of a vanilla pod
  • 2 tbsp water, clear (just under)

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest period approx. 3 days; Total time approx. 3 days 10 minutes

(or other shapes e.g. stars)

Mix all the dry ingredients together and add the water last. Be careful: the sugar should be moist, but not wet; it shouldn’t dissolve. Fill a silicone heart or star mold with the sugar and press firmly. Smooth the surface again with your finger while it’s still wet. This will make the base a little firmer and prevent the hearts from crumbling after removal. Let it dry in a warm place, preferably on a radiator, for several days! Use: Dissolve in a mug of tea, coffee, or cappuccino. TIP: Half a bottle of butter vanilla flavoring adds a little extra flavor!
