Chunky mushroom and bacon sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g mushrooms, finely diced
  • 350 g bacon cubes
  • 3 tbsp herb cream cheese or sour cream
  • 100 ml cream
  • 2 tsp, heaped marjoram
  • 2 tsp, leveled vegetable broth, granulated, optional
  • e.g. salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Goes well with potato dumplings or gnocchi

Fry the mushroom cubes for about 5 minutes, then add the bacon cubes and continue frying until the bacon is cooked through. Add the cream cheese or sour cream and mix well, then slowly add the cream until the desired consistency is reached. Season to taste with marjoram, other herbs if desired, salt, and pepper. For those who aren’t so conscious of their weight, you can also mix in mild cheese for a bit of chewiness.
