Cinnamon rock candy syrup

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 150 g sugar (brown rock candy)
  • 3 stalk(s) cinnamon, broken into pieces
  • 1 anise (star anise)
  • 5 cloves
  • 200 ml water

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 5 minutes

For coffee or dessert

To make approximately 175 ml of syrup, simmer the rock candy with the spices and water in a saucepan over medium heat for about 20 minutes. Do not cover. Let the syrup cool with the spices and strain through a coffee filter. This will make it nice and clear. Then pour it into a nice bottle and store it in a cool, dark place. It tastes great in coffee or tea and is perfect for seasoning pastries or as a dessert sauce. It’s also perfect with American pancakes or crepes! Check out the “Espresso Nut Cake” recipe!
