You should clean your microwave regularly – for reasons of hygiene. After all, you prepare food in the device. In addition, the microwave works more reliably when dirt and limescale are removed. In this article, we explain how to get your microwave really clean again.
Cleaning the microwave: Remove dirt and limescale with vinegar
The microwave is easy to clean with vinegar. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Create a solution of water and vinegar. To do this, take a microwave-safe cup and fill it half with water and half with white vinegar. In order to clean inexpensively, a cheap table vinegar is suitable.
- Next, place the jar in the microwave and run the micro for five minutes. Steam is now forming. This steam softens the dirt.
- After the time has elapsed, remove the container from the microwave and clean off the loosened dirt with a cloth or kitchen towel.
- You can easily clean the turntable in the dishwasher.
Alternatives: Clean the microwave with lemon and washing-up liquid
If you have a lemon handy, you can use it to clean your microwave.
- Instead of the vinegar solution, you can cut a lemon in half and place the two halves, cut side down, on a microwave-safe plate.
- Also, add a tablespoon of water. Now let the microwave run for about a minute and then clean off the loosened dirt.
- You can also microwave a warm bowl of water with a little washing-up liquid for a minute.
- In this case, it is best to wipe off the loosened dirt with a damp sponge.
