Make Guacamole Yourself – That’s How it Works

In this home tip, we will show you how easy it is to make guacamole yourself.

Guacamole – make a delicious dip yourself

Guacamole is a delicious Mexican avocado dip. It tastes particularly good with crackers, and toasted bread, but also with grilled meat. At parties, he is the perennial favorite. You only need a few ingredients to make the dip yourself: a ripe avocado, a clove of garlic, an organic lime, a tomato, 150g yogurt (with a fat content of 1.5%), pepper, and salt.

  1. Dice the tomato and very finely chop the garlic. Alternatively, you can crush it through a garlic press.
  2. Grate the zest from the lime until you have about 2 teaspoons. Squeeze the lime juice into a bowl.
  3. Halve the avocado and remove the stone. Scoop out the flesh with a spoon and place it in the bowl with the squeezed lime juice. The juice prevents the flesh from browning.
  4. Mash the avocado flesh with a fork and add the crushed garlic and tomato, yogurt, and grated lime zest.
  5. Mix everything together thoroughly to create creamy guacamole. Season the dip with salt and pepper. Finished!

Refine guacamole

You can refine and modify the basic guacamole recipe in many ways. Some ideas are listed below for you:

  • For example, refine your guacamole with freshly chopped herbs such as parsley, basil, or coriander. Mint leaves give the dip a particularly fresh note. Some red onion makes it spicier. You can use more than one clove of garlic if desired.
  • If desired, chili peppers can be finely chopped and added. This is a taste experience, especially with tortilla chips.
  • Instead of yogurt, you can use sour cream or crème fraîche. Omit the yogurt and its alternatives and add avocado and the guacamole becomes vegan.
  • For a fruity version of guacamole, stir in chopped mango, strawberries, and mint. For this variant, omit the tomatoes.
