Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 6 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • ½ tsp mustard
  • 3 tsp horseradish from the jar
  • 2 tbsp sherry
  • 2 tbsp cognac
  • 1 orange(s), the juice
  • 1 tsp chervil
  • 1 tsp tarragon
  • 1 tbsp juice (onion juice)
  • 1 pinch(s) of cayenne pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Mix all the sauce ingredients together well and season to taste. This has been our go-to sauce for shrimp cocktail for years; all our guests absolutely love it. The sauce should sit for about an hour to allow the herbs to develop their full flavor. Karl Schaumlöffel isn’t just a promotional idea. He actually existed, and he spent his life as a chef on large passenger steamers. An excellent cook with a very fitting name.
