Coffee For Headaches – Does it Really Help?

Coffee actually helps with headaches

If you have a headache, you don’t have to take a pill right away, coffee can help just as well.

  • A cup of coffee can actually relieve a headache. The caffeine in coffee is responsible for this – decaffeinated coffee is therefore not the right choice.
  • More specifically, caffeine blocks the formation of an enzyme, which in turn is responsible for the release of so-called prostaglandins. These are hormone-like substances that cause pain.
  • The stronger the better: if your stomach can take it, a strong coffee, a mocha, or an espresso works the fastest.
  • If you also add a dash of lemon to the coffee, this increases the pain-relieving effect.
  • Another effect of the popular stimulant is improved blood circulation in the brain. If you drink a cup of coffee in good time, you may be able to catch the onset of a migraine.
  • The home remedy for headaches works best in people who do not drink coffee regularly, i.e. are not used to it.
