Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 soup chicken
- 1 ginger, thumb-sized
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 cup(s) soy sauce
- 1 stalk(s) leek
- 1 liter of Coke
- n. B. cornstarch
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 55 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes
Finely dice the ginger and garlic. Place the chicken in a pot, add the garlic, ginger, and soy sauce. Carefully add the cola. Simmer the chicken for 35 minutes over medium heat. In the meantime, slice the leek into rings, add it after 35 minutes, and simmer for a further 20 minutes, or until the chicken is tender. Remove the chicken from the pot and remove the meat from the bones. Remove the skin and shred the meat into bite-sized pieces. Season the sauce to taste and thicken with starch. Add the meat back in and bring back to a boil. Rice goes best with this. If you like it spicier, you can make a salsa with fresh chilies, a little oil, vinegar, and salt.
