Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 450 g white cabbage
  • 150 g smoked bacon, cut into small cubes
  • Vinegar
  • oil
  • salt and pepper
  • Caraway, chopped and finely ground

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Caraway seeds, chopped and finely ground. Cut the cabbage into fine noodles, mix with the caraway seeds, pour hot vinegar water over it, and let stand for a few minutes. Drain the water. Repeat the process (this will make the cabbage tender; do not knead it). Pour a marinade of vinegar, oil, salt, and pepper over the cabbage and mix well. Toast the bacon cubes and pour over the cabbage. Serve lukewarm. Tip: If you let it stand for a while, the longer the better, and warm it up before serving (in the microwave).
