Green basil, garlic, and red pesto cheese rolls, great party snack, serves 16
For the dough, mix the yeast with the milk and sugar and let it rest for about 5 minutes. Knead with the flour, butter and salt and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes. Finely chop the basil and garlic and mix with half of the cheese. Mix the pesto with the remaining cheese. Divide the dough into two equal parts. Knead the green mixture into one part until the dough is smooth again, then do the same with the remaining dough and the red mixture. Form a total of 16 equal-sized rolls, cut them crosswise and let it rise for another 20 minutes. Bake the rolls on a baking tray lined with baking paper for 20-25 minutes in a preheated oven at 190°C. If desired, place a bowl of water in the oven. For a party, you can easily form twice as many small rolls from the dough, which will reduce the baking time accordingly. Otherwise, it’s also great for summer barbecues, instead of just making baguettes.
