Oats are a grain that belongs to the sweet grasses. In this country, it is a popular ingredient, especially for breakfast. But the healthy grain is also used in baked goods such as bread, rolls, or biscuits. But why are oats so healthy?

  • Oats are rich in vitamins and nutrients. In addition, due to the low gluten content, it is easily digestible and well tolerated.
  • B Vitamins: Oats are rich in B vitamins such as vitamins B1, B2, B6, and biotin. Valuable folic acid is also present in the oat plant.
  • Other vitamins: In addition to the B vitamins, oats also contain vitamins E and K. Vitamin K is important for regulating blood clotting.
  • Trace elements and minerals: Oatmeal is so healthy because it consists of numerous trace elements and minerals. These include iron, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, copper, selenium, manganese, iodine, and fluoride.
  • Proteins: Oats consist largely of essential proteins (13.5 grams per 100 grams). These are particularly valuable because our body is unable to produce them itself. Nevertheless, the body needs amino acids such as leucine, methionine, isoleucine, lysine, valine, and phenylalanine, which are found in abundance in oats. The amino acids support, among other things, the immune system.
  • Fiber: Oats have a high fiber content, namely ten grams per 100 grams. Fiber is good for digestion. They also produce the mucilage that comes from cooking oatmeal. This oatmeal is considered particularly gentle on the stomach and well tolerated.
  • Carbohydrates: The proportion of carbohydrates is also high: 58.7 grams per 100 grams, 0.7 grams of which is sugar.
  • Fat content: The fat content of rolled oats is 7.0 grams per 100 grams; 76 percent of the fats contained are healthy unsaturated fatty acids.
  • Calorific value: 100 grams of rolled oats have a calorific value of 368 kilocalories.
