Cook buckwheat or millet

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 cup buckwheat grains or millet grains (e.g. approx. 160 g
  • 2 cup(s) water, boiling

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 5 minutes

gluten-free + egg-free + dairy-free

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add 1 cup of buckwheat grains. Bring to a boil; it will quickly boil over the edge! When it starts to boil, put a wooden spoon in and take the pot off the heat for a moment to let it calm down. Return the heat to the reduced level, leaving the spoon in as a precaution. When the water is below the surface of the buckwheat, turn off the heat, remove the spoon, put the lid on and let it swell; it will become nice and dry and grainy. Rinse the millet with boiling water to remove any bitter substances. Otherwise, proceed as with buckwheat, only the cooking time is shorter. Please only add salt after cooking. There are hundreds of recipes for these two types; I have tested quite a few, and these are the best for my purposes.
