cooked cheese

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 100 g Handkäse with or without caraway seeds
  • 50 g butter
  • 150 ml cream
  • 50 g processed cheese, optional
  • 150 g quark
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • possibly caraway seeds, whole, as required

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 6 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 6 hours 25 minutes

simple and beautifully creamy

Cut the hand cheese into small pieces and heat it in a saucepan with the butter, cream, and processed cheese. Stir with a whisk until everything has dissolved and the mixture is boiling. Remove from the heat and stir in the quark. Then stir in the baking soda (the baking soda makes the mixture rise and become foamy). Pour into a bowl and sprinkle caraway seeds on top of the cheese to taste. The mixture will be relatively runny when hot; this is normal! Chill in the refrigerator overnight. This cheese will be creamy and spreadable, just the way we like it.
