Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 g flour
  • 100 g sugar
  • 100 ml oil
  • 100 ml carbonated mineral water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 32 waffle cups
  • 150 g dark chocolate coating
  • Sugar sprinkles, blue
  • 75 g marzipan paste
  • 64 chocolate drops
  • 32 butter biscuits, mini

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

for a child’s birthday party or as a highlight on the party buffet, for 32 pieces

Combine the batter ingredients in a bowl and mix with a hand mixer. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the waffle cups on top. This is important because the chocolate will melt during baking and otherwise spill over the cakes. Fill the waffle cups two-thirds full with batter and bake at 170 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) for about 15 minutes (use a toothpick to test the filling). Let the cakes cool. Melt the chocolate coating in a water bath. Dip the surface of the cakes into the chocolate coating and then sprinkle with sugar pearls. Form small balls from the marzipan mixture into eyes, place a chocolate drop on each one as a pupil, and “stick” them to the cakes. This will adhere to the cakes on its own, as marzipan is very sticky. If you prefer, you can use dark chocolate coating for better grip. Finally, cut a small slit in the cakes with a knife and insert a mini butter cookie into each one. Tip: Since blue sugar pearls are not available everywhere, you can alternatively use coconut flakes and simply color them with blue food coloring.
