Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 10 sausages
  • 45 g corn flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 75 g flour
  • 175 ml buttermilk
  • 1 egg(s)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • some ketchup
  • Flour for dusting
  • Oil (corn germ oil) for baking

Thread the sausages lengthwise onto wooden skewers and dust with a little flour. For the batter, combine all the flour with salt and baking powder in a bowl. In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk and egg well, then stir into the flour mixture to form a smooth batter. Fill a heavy-based frying pan with 5 cm of oil and heat to 190°C. Dip the sausages into the batter and fry in the hot oil until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper. Serve with ketchup.
