  • 1 egg(s)
  • 40 g cheese (Emmental) in one piece

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

makes 15 cheese sticks

Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius (425 degrees Fahrenheit). Defrost the puff pastry sheets. Cut each sheet lengthwise into 5 strips. Lightly beat the egg with a fork and brush the puff pastry strips with it. Grate the cheese and sprinkle it over the pastry sticks. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the pastry strips on it. Twist the strips slightly into a spiral. Bake in the hot oven for about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. Variations: Gouda or Cheddar can be used instead of Emmental. The puff pastry sticks are also delicious sprinkled with poppy seeds or sesame seeds instead of cheese. Spices like sweet paprika or curry powder are also delicious. Extra tip: These cheese sticks make a great aperitif, perhaps with a glass of sparkling wine.
