Crush Ice – That’s How it Works

Crushing is most convenient with an ice crusher.

• You fill an ice crusher with ice cubes and the device automatically crushes the ice.
• Electronic ice crushers are available for as little as 30 euros.
• However, you can also crush the ice with a good hand blender or stand mixer.
• If you are the proud owner of a Thermomix, you can of course use it to crush ice.

Crush ice without an ice crusher

Of course, you can also make your own crushed ice without such a device:

1. First, make ice cubes. This can be done with a simple ice cube mold.
2. Put the ice cubes in a freezer bag and seal them with a rubber band. Try to trap as little air as possible in the bag.
3. Now wrap the bag with a tea towel.
4. Lay the bundle on an impact-resistant surface.
5. Now hit the ice with a rolling pin (a hammer also works as a substitute) until it is sufficiently broken up.
